EAT, DRINK, AND PLAY!
san diego is a huge place, so we put together a few recommendations.
A FEW OF OUR FAVORITES
eat
Juanita's Taco Shop - Leucadia (North County): get rolled tacos, a California Burrito, spicy carrots, and a calendar
VG Donut & Bakery - Cardiff-by-the-Sea (North County): get a Maple Old Fashioned and walk to the beach
Loma Bonita - Point Loma: get a California Burrito and bring a friend
Hector's Mexican & Seafood - Point Loma: go for Breakfast Burritos and call in your order
Point Loma Seafoods: get peel and eat shrimp or smoked fish (of any kind), and bring home a loaf of sourdough bread
Con Pane Rustic Breads & Cafe - Point Loma: there's a line so get there early for the Linguica Brioche (weekends only)
DRINK
Pacific Shores - Ocean Beach: solid dive bar, bring cash, hustle for a booth
Sunshine Company Saloon - Ocean Beach: get the rolled tacos and a jello shot
Harbor Town Pub - Point Loma: get a local craft beer (or two) and a fried artichoke taco
Club Marina - Point Loma: bring cash here too, but you won't need it for pool
Shakespeare Pub & Grille: get some English pours along with chips and curry sauce, then catch the trolley to explore Downtown
Ballast Point - Little Italy: try out one of San Diego's biggest craft breweries at one of their tasting rooms
Waterfront Bar & Grill - Little Italy: supposedly the oldest tavern in San Diego, open 6am - 2am daily
PLAY
Torrey Pines Sate Natural Reserve: take a little hike around the bluffs and stay for the view (beware - go early, it gets busy!)
Stone Steps Beach - Leucadia (North County): you're in California! Go to the beach! Even in November! This one is close to our hearts.
Belmont Park - Mission Beach: whip around on the Giant Dipper (Megan's first roller coaster)
Balboa Park: bring a picnic! we love Balboa Park and could spend all day there
San Diego Zoo: it's World Famous for a reason, check out the "snake-atorium"
Old Town: go for Margaritas and a little taste of what San Diego used to look like (a really really long time ago). They call it the birthplace of California.
Hotel del Coronado: go for brunch or wait and go for a sunset drink on the Sun Deck Bar
